Short version: your documents are never sent anywhere — all conversion happens in your browser. We use Google Analytics for anonymous usage statistics, only after you consent via the cookie banner.

What data we collect
We collect no personal document content — there is no upload and no server-side processing. This website does use Google Analytics 4 for anonymous, consent-gated usage statistics (see below). There are no advertising scripts and no tracking pixels.
The web app at app.markdownword.com stores your style profiles in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage statistics — which pages are visited and how visitors navigate the site. No document content or personal content is collected. IP addresses are anonymized before any data is sent to Google.
Analytics cookies are only set after you explicitly accept via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics data is collected and no cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer.
Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC in accordance with their privacy policy.
Cookies and local storage
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to track sessions
and measure usage. We also use localStorage
to remember your cookie consent choice. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.
Document conversion
All markdown-to-Word conversion runs entirely in your browser. The text you paste into MarkdownWord is processed using client-side JavaScript — it is never uploaded to a server, never logged, and never stored anywhere other than your own browser session.
The resulting .docx file is generated locally and downloaded directly to your machine. We never receive it, see it, or retain any record of it.
Google Fonts
This website loads the Plus Jakarta Sans typeface from Google Fonts (fonts.google.com). When your browser requests the font files, Google may log your IP address as part of their standard server access logs. This is a common practice for CDN-hosted assets. You can review Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
No other third-party services are loaded on this website.
Hosting and infrastructure
markdownword.com is hosted on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps. Microsoft may process standard server-side access logs (IP address, browser type, request path) as part of normal infrastructure operation. These logs are retained and controlled by Microsoft according to their data processing terms.
Desktop application
The MarkdownWord desktop application for Windows processes all files locally on your machine. No telemetry is collected, no usage data is sent to our servers, and no internet connection is required for conversion. A connection is only used to check for license validity at startup, if applicable.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Because we collect no personal data, there is typically no data for us to provide, correct, or delete. However, if you have any concern, contact us at markdownword@markdownword.com and we will respond promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We do not have a mechanism to notify users directly, since we hold no contact information.
